Actress Palak Sidhwani, who played the character of Sonu in the TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, has recently left the show.

Now the makers have signed ‘Sajha Sindoor’ fame actress Khushi Mali to play the role of Sonu in the show. Khushi’s entry in the show will be from the episode to be telecast on October 7.

Khushi said, ‘I am excited to connect’ On being a part of this show, model-turned-actress Khushi said, ‘It will be enjoyable to play the role of Sonu because he has many qualities.

Also, being a part of Taarak Mehta is very special for me. I am excited to connect with the fans through my role.

Actress replaced Sonu’s role for the fourth time With this, Khushi will be the fourth actress in the show who will play the role of Sonu. Earlier, this role has been played by actress Jheel Mehta (2008–2012), Nidhi Bhanushali (2012–2019) and Palak Sidhwani (2019–2024).

Palak Sindhwani, who played Sonu Bhide in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for five years, left the show in 2024 after a series of issues with the production team. According to reports, her departure was influenced by both personal and professional reasons.

One of the main reasons for her exit was a legal dispute with the show’s makers. Palak was reportedly served a legal notice over a contract breach. She also mentioned dealing with anxiety on set due to a lack of support from the show’s producer, Asit Kumarr Modi. Palak claimed that she had to work through anxiety attacks without proper assistance, which added to her stress. Additionally, there were tensions between her and the producers, with Palak accusing Modi of threatening to delete her Instagram account as part of the dispute​
